it does use a lot of resources.

i run corsair xms and just added 2 more 1gb sticks and it runs quite well.

that's what i run, and i don't intend to go with vista at this time.

but 98% of the things i run are fine.

i run 2x3.6ghz opterons and it distributes the processor load much more evenly than pro.

it can give you a reason to get that new duo or quad processor machine where installation is a breeze and it works almost all of the time.

i can't advise on vista compatibility, since i run xp.

for example, the "options" bar at the top of the panel is an important feature - and it is used all the time.

you can always use the undo features if you don't like the changes.

i notice that when i had to do a office update, the activex api engine on microsoft's office website had to be approved before i run the utility that checked for updates for office products i needed.

pros: works great, does most of what i need, everything else is basic coding, an i run that in doscons: why buy the upgrade pack when you can buy the whole thing for less at newegg???other thoughts:

if you are just looking for a pc for everyday use, go mac.

cons: i bought this because my vista home premium doesnt run everything i need so i run dual boot with this as a second option.

if not, stick with home for everyday use.
