Purchased the RND2000 (Diskless) model with the bundled 2TB Western Digital drive (WD20EADS). Out of the box the NAS firmware (3.x.x) will not support a 2TB drive, however, based on information from developer posts on a ReadyNas forum, the WD 2TB drive, specifically the WD20EADS, will soon be supported and posted on the Netgear Duo Hardware Compatibility List. from Amazon.com At the outset, I would like to give 5 star rating to Amazon customer support. Not only they were very helpful and friendly in replacing the product TWICE, they took care of everything as fast as possible! Now Netgear is a different story. I saw someone's review on the bad power supply issue already, I had the same experience. from Amazon.com I have not experienced any of the disappointments captured in other recent reviews. I researched several NAS products and this solution seemed the best value. I purchased the RND2000, which comes without any disk drives, and I purchased a WD Green 1TB with 32Mb cache. The ReadyNAS stopped responding to connection requests, pings, etc.. from Amazon.com It played nice with my little network almost immediately and has been happily serving print jobs and backing up four computers for a few weeks now. Share management is extremely easy with the online interface, as are all settings changes. The NTI Shadow software works pretty well, though it locked up a Vista machine mid-backup one time (doubt that was the ReadyNAS's fault). Drive syncing is a tad slow, but the unit works fine during that time and doesn't slow down normal operations at all. from Amazon.com Took a long time to figure out how to do RAID0 (500GB*2) and even longer to set it up. The interface is easy to navigate and the way it handles new drives is great. from Amazon.com Terrible product. Did not work right out of the box. Spent several hours on the phone with technical service and finally gave when they wanted me to start taking the readynas apart and install the hard drive in my desktop computer. And, when powered up, it was so loud I could hardly sit in the same room with it. from Amazon.com I've used 5 different NAS products in my home. This was the only one I liked. I started by buying the 500 GB model and eventually upgrading it to the 2 x 1 TB level to house my ever growing iTunes library of music and video -- to also drive my Apple TVs. I was also using a hack to back up my 2 laptops and the kid's Mac Mini to an external USB that was attached (Time Machine compatible - pre 4.1.5 firmware). from Amazon.com
