Works great. One caveat is that you will probably need to power your USB device using an AC Adapter. I have tested this unit using only the computers USB port to power a USB 4 port serial hub over 50 ft.
There is a little caveat you need to be aware of with this. It says it will work with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0, with the note that the USB 2.0 will only work at speeds of 12 Mbits/second, ie USB 1.1 speed.
Works great, even where daisy chained active USB extensions won't work. For example, my KVM has USB mouse/keyboard inputs, and the keyboard port only accepts a directly connected USB keyboard - not through a hub.
Pros: - Black color- Solid construction- Good connectors- Nice packaging Cons: - Does not work over 30-feet on CAT5 & CAT6 cablesUsed two cables, 30-foot CAT5 and 35-foot CAT6, tested with Fluke Networks MicroScanner Pro and tested with 100 Mb/s transfers (10 MB/s) providing steady data stream. Used a USB 1.1 Full-Speed IR Remote Control Sensor and a SanDisk 1GB USB 2.0 Hi-Speed devices for testing.
I bought this to extend the length of my un-powered Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 - Web camera - color - USB to put in the attic so I can use it as a security camera out to my parking area. It took about 30 seconds for the cam to be recognized by the i-Catcher webcam software ([...]) and from then on it has been clicking pics beyond the 16' USB limit with no problems.
I used this to get a wireless keyboard/mouse receiver to the TV location. I had a CAT5 from the PC to the TV, so now I have a USB port behind the TV.
Good intentions for what it does. Works the way its suppose to. Great way to lengthen the distance for USB devices.
I'm using this to extend the USB ports on my Xbox 360 from my basement to my den over Cat6. Works great!
i didn't think that it would and it doesen't i even tried it on 5 different computers and no difference.
