This is the first time I have submitted a review on Amazon but felt compelled to do so. This item is really terrific. After messing around with a number of wireless Ethernet adapters (including Linksys and Buffalo models) and continuing to get dropouts, network errors, and plain old frustration, I decided to give this powerline adapter a shot. IT LITERALLY CANNOT BE SIMPLER TO SET UP. from Amazon.com I plugged it in and it worked. I'm getting speeds close to my hard wired network. I have no complaints and I'm very happy with the purchase and use of the PLK300 Powerline Adapter Kit. I was not able to plug it in where I had originally intended, but I found that having to plug it in elsewhere(same phase or whatever you call it) was not an inconvenience. from Amazon.com 3) Try a powerline ethernet adapter. I had high hopes for this option, because the wiring to both my basement and home office was all new due to recent renovations (although on separate circuits, which I heard can slow things down). So I gave 3 a try with the Linksys PLK300. I plugged both powerline adapters into adjacent sockets, confirmed that everything was working. from Amazon.com I did not set up security as I live in the middle of nowhere, so I can't comment on that. But it is definitely plug and play. My network setup is all linksys, so that may be why everything works together seamlessly. Aside from this bump in my road to networking happiness, I would completely recommend this product.
