Strip away the superstar love-in material, and this is still a great way to learn to sing. The book gives all the necessary information and the exercises really work, and pretty quickly too.
The biggest problem this book has is that it is not very broad. These few exercises that encourage a larynx at the position of speech have two main problems.
I don't know that this book alone will make you a better singer, but for any Speech Level student that can't do regular voice lessons, this is a great resource for keeping up with the techniques. It also goes in to more detail with respect to the warmups than your SLS teacher may go.
I saw this book on here and have heard LOT's about it being a great book, so I ordered it. Once I received it I went straight into the exercises....and I know there are a few comments saying that after the first lesson you can hear/feel the difference, there absolutely correct.
I did not get any results using the book alone. But after taking some lessons from a Speech Level Singing teacher, I now understand how to use the exercises in the book.
I have been singing for awhile, this book is straightforward, great for conditioning, obviously I can see why he has dealt with "pop stars", I think the other reviewers were simply looking for something elementary. I am practicing diligently with this one now, so far so good.
This book has already helped me and I've only had it for 2 weeks. The simple techniques that Seth Riggs uses help to make you sing correctly.
This course has done more to improve my voice in a few short months than all of the vocal coaches that I have had put together. It doesn't try to teach you to sing like some one else.
I do agree that it is way too full of testimonials. But regardless, the method is the best out there and the exercises on the cd are great. The philosophy is that there really is no distinction between the chest and head voice.
This is one of the worst purchase I've ever bought ... I ignored some of the negative reviews that Seth's book got, and bought it anyway just to give it a try.
What do Michael Jackson, Anita Baker, Natalie Cole and hundreds of other professionals have in common? They all study voice with Hollywoods leading vocal coach, Set
