($250)hd cable, dvd (non hd) looks great on this projector.
the reason i bought this projector over a tv is because i move often and wanted large screen quality with portability.
for about $1100, i now have a 106" 'flat screen' tv in my media room.
this projector is a real good investmen at a great price.looks good and easy to navigate menus, and the fact that it has av connections on the back which makes it easy too hook up any dvd player or
i already used it with the computer and a dvd player, the imagem is great and the sound not bad.
i am using it mainly for watching movies and i have it connected to my dvd player and laptop for watching movies and songs form utube.
hook this projector up to a blu-ray and an hd-dvd (the best player there is for standard dvd's), and get ready for a 100+' viewing experience that is second to none.
i hooked this up switched through my receiver and watch satellite tv or ripped dvd's from the computer.
i have no idea how this compares to other projectors, but compared to a flat screen tv from a price perspective this can't be beat.
the mitsubishi hc4900 has the advantage of best in class sharpness, well better than average brightness in best modes, very good placement flexibility (not the best, but probably works for 95% of
i bought this product so i could bring my wii or ps2 on the road and not have to bother trying to hack into hotel tvs.
i plugged it in the wii, and its awesome.
i have not tried a dvd player, but i expect it would look great, too.
it has just a audio/video input, that works very well from a camera or dvd player.
before, i would have to carry a tv with me to view what im playing on the screens in the club.
if your shopping for a big screen tv for your living room this projector is your best bet, it's lighter and the picture quality is absolutely superb.
ambient light is no more of a problem than it would be with any tv in the room, and we find that we are using this as our primary tv.
i just plugged the power in hooked up my hd tuner and dvd player in and i was up and running in a couple of minutes.
we have a 42inch 1080p lcd tv downstairs and the picture is just as good, only four times the size!
i don't have a tv in the room so i really have no point of reference other than what i understand to be a good picture based on the couple of plasmas and lcd's i have upstairs.
gave 5 stars this time because it just looks simply amazing at 70-80" playing 720p xb0x 360 and dvd's through vga input, and it takes everything we can throw at it without a hitch.
i use it for dvd's, xbox 360, my laptop...and the picture is wonderful.
super convenient with builtin dvd and speakers.
cons: now that we have a ps3, we don't really need the built-in dvd player.
the fact that this is a data projector not ahome theater projector and also i was using a cheap dvd player with composite out may have something to do with it.
shelling out 300+ dollars every 2 years on the bulb is going to hurt; but you have to expect some kind of extra costs for a 154 inch tv, which will be the same cost as any other dlp tv.
have a dvd player and laptop connected to it.
additional thoughtsin my book, projectors trump an tv/monitor on size and 'eye appeal'.
prosdidn't want to spent thousands of dollars for a big(and bulky) screen tv, i live in a small apartment.
i wanted to be sure my tax return $ would go to the perfect bundle to upgrade from my 27'' tube tv.
i use the hdmi outputs of an off-the-air hdtv tuner, an hd-dvd player, and a ps3 blu-ray bd player.
it's picture quality is better than my sony 1080 lcd 46" tv .
mine is hooked up using hdmi with blu-ray and hd dvd players, projected to a 150" gray screen.
the picture is stunning, and it shows the hd effect very well when connected to hd dvd player.
also i'm using panasonic 1080p upconvert dvd recorder and my movies look great, buy a dvi-hdmi cable with a hdmi switcher and you'll be fine, good contrast level at 2200-1 ,lums are 2300 at full mode
my cable tv, dvd's, and htpc play wonderfully on it!
i enjoy watching blu-rays on my ps3, but dvds look great too.
(our previous tv is a 50" sony rear projection model.) we have a light-controlled environment and are using an elite 106" screen with a 1.0 gain.
dvd's look good.
very good dvd picture.
i'm projecting onto a 120" screen with minimal zoom adjustment and feeding it with signal from a tivo series 3, scientific atlanta 8300, and upscaling dvd -- the hd-dvd is on order.
i work in film/tv and can say unequivocally, this machine puts out a gorgeous picture with great contrast, sharpness and color saturation (which can be dialed back in presets or manually).
the picture is amazing - i have watched blu-ray & standard dvds and they both look wonderful.
hd sources are eye popping, even sd is great with good sources (dvd especially nice).
i hooked this baby to a denon receiver and a samsung blue-ray dvd player.
