my recommendation is to avoid using the built in dvd player (though that will be good quality) to avoid over heating of the projector unit and instead use another good progressive scan dvd player

i guess you get what you pay for, bought this for the all in one of dvd player and ability to have a large image under $1000, ran this on a 100 diag matte white screen and saw tons of screen door

also the speakers on the unit are good quality and more than adequate for viewing a dvd with the built-in player.
