This projector blows other projectors to shame, and it is comparable to projctors that cost in ten thousands! I took the online professional ratings into consideration before purchasing this umit. It lives up to the crytics.
I had a Panasonic PT-AE900U that bit the dust after 3 1/2 years of constant (~4 hours a day) use, so I opted for this unit as a replacement, which is now 2 generations ahead of the PT-AE900U, which was pretty darn good by any measure. All I can say about this latest version is that it is indeed an improvement in every sense, at about 60% of the price I paid for the old one.
Understand that I'm new to projectors, so I don't have a lot of background for comparison. I recently moved to a new apartment with a massive living room and I thought to myself "This would be a great opportunity to set up the home theater I always wanted." I spent a good two months researching online for the perfect entry-level hd projector.
A terrific quality product, and very bright. I paired mine with the Duet Portable Projector Screen, and I am fully satisfied with the resulting image, with its visibility and crispness and size (80-inch diagonal). I have hooked up both a PS3 (HDMI) and DVD player (S-Video) to it, and they work great. The PT-AX200U has an output capable of 2000 lumens, which ultimately means that you can enjoy this projector in the middle of the day, even with ambient light streaming through your blinds.
I'd been shopping around for a new gaming display for Wii, PS3, Laptop through DVI, and movies, for a very long time, to replace my monster 36" 300lb CRT. First I went with a 46" LCD that just had too much lag, GHOSTING, grayish blacks, banding on the image, all these problems, and ended up returning it. Then a friend recommended I try the projector route.
best projector under [...] hands down. I was looking for a projector that would be able to play nice with my Mac via a digital connection, do HD, be able to hook up an HDMI source, as well as an SD source and haven't been disappointed at all!
I searched the internet and spent month deciding and finally bought this PJ. Well all was fine until 60 days in and 230 hrs on the bulb. Now the picture surges in and out.
I dont think you will find a better projector with out spending at least $1000 more. I bought this projector after being impressed by my buddies projector. I purchased mine for about the same price and was truly amazed by how much better the Panasonic preformed. The only downside that I can think of is that it didnt have enough HDMI ports.
It's also very quiet - especially in eco mode. - Extremely film-like "Cinema" mode right out of the box. I felt no need to calibrate this thing beyond the factory preset, although you can use a calibration DVD with color bars and adjust it yourself. - LCD.
I purchased the PT-AX200U for my dedicated home theater room in Aug 2007 after much reading and reviewing all options. Projectorcentral dot com is one of the best sources of information such as placement as well as reviews (both professional and consumer).
