all in all it is good and i like it so far.mainly use it for the kids to project their movies on the wall
this projector has great picture after a bit of tuning, and is great for movie nights.
i simply opened the box, followed step by step turn on/off instructions as illustrated on a single page, inserted a dvd and voila..it was good to go in 5 minutes.
i am completely satisfied with this movie projector.
i watch mine on a homemade screen that measures 7 foot by 4 foot at a distance of about 12 foot, and it is like being in a movie theatre.
i have it hooked up to an inexpensive home theater system, and movies are fantastic on it.
i've had it hooked up to the satalite (standard definition), my desktop, my laptop, my wii, and dvd player all look smoking good on it...
all that i want to do is decimate legions of zombies in dead rising in a movie-size format ;) i noticed that this one doesn't have component video or hdmi, so how do you hook it up to your 360?
i love the quality of the picture you receive from this unit, it's as good as my hdtv (on a large scale).
i bought this in place of an hdtv, and wow is it impressive!
it is not a perfect projector but good enough for playing games and watching movies (not hd movie)at least for me.
i purchased it with $100 mir, and this has been my first projector, but i have seen movies on my friend's projector which are costlier then this but poor in picture quality then this one.
i would suggest the viewsonic projector to anyone who is looking for a great movie and video game experience, plus daily tv use though it is good to still have a traditional set for daytime viewing.
the projector is very good according to the price, bought it to watch movies at home, the resolution is not great but for a movie its good and that too for such a price.
beautiful color quality; watched a movie (through vga, playing the dvd on my latop) and it was great!
my wife and i just hosted a movie night at a club we belong to using our viewsonic projector, phillips hd dvd player that upconverts to 1080!
we built a small movie theater in our basement and wanted a projector that could provide a good projected picture.
i took a casual try at projecting a non-hd dvd with it, and the quality was ok, but not outstanding.
other thoughts: put this together with a cheap htpc, some nice computer speakers, and a white sheet, and you have yourself a sub 1,000 dollar movie theater!
in summary: the hd picture quality was excellent and we got some great feedback from our movie night viewers.
do not buy for any moving video or movies-the picture looks like your watching thru a screen door-very pixel and grainy-the white in background or clouds also flickers and isnt clear at all-maybe
i watch movies/ play games all the time and the picture is crystal clear - use the rgb cable hook up - not the yello video.
"pc magazine - the viewsonic pj258d viewdock is a perfectly good choice for a projector to connect to a computer to show presentations, or to a dvd player to watch movies.
