Newegg was a huge help as usual. Cons: After returning board after board to Newegg trying to get one of the newer rev. I finally got one after dealing directly with AsRock. However my happiness was short lived. from Newegg.com Other Thoughts: What else to say, it is still working after a week's burn in (Prime95, Memtest86, Spinrite on the drives). I did get a Noctua NF-C12P cooler that blows down onto the board, instead of one of those tower types that blows parallel to the board, as I was worried about those other chips getting any air; this seems to work fine. (The Intel stock cooler is this way, too, and I think that told me something.) I don't think you can really get 4 2-slot GPUs in this thing and even hope to cool them adequately; it is just too tight. But that is more of an ATX spec limitation than a shortcoming of this board. from Newegg.com Pros: Three PCI slots. The ASRock boards are the only i7 motherboards I could find in the US with 3 PCI slots. Which is the reason I bought this board, the only reason. from Newegg.com Also Tom's Hardware noted some problems with version 1.03 of this board and I presumed that since version 1.05 had come out that I would be getting the current version from Newegg. Instead I got a board manufactured last year. I'm very disappointed that ASROCK didn't work with Newegg, whose reputation relies on selling the latest and greatest technology, to get these problem boards out of this sales channel via sending them to another sales channel or auction site. Other Thoughts: I won't buy an ASROCK board again because I'm not happy that they didn't pull these boards with known problems and replace them with non defective boards. from Newegg.com If you use a 3rd party heat sink you may need to modify the bottom bracket in order to make it work. I had to dremel out a corner of my bracket to avoid touching the ICs. The Intel FHS would mount fine if you want to use it. SHOULD WORK . from Newegg.com Other Thoughts: If you are more tech savey than me, don't let the cons stop you from purchasing. This is a great board. If you are less tech savey than me, and you have probems configuring a RAID for this board with SATA drives, like I did (about six reinstallations of Windows XP 64-bit finally did the trick) go to the Intel website for more help than ASRock will throw you. The trick is to set up the RAID in your mobo bios BEFORE Windows installation by changing the ADVANCE/IDE Configuration to "RAID", then F6 in Intel Matrix Storage Manager during Windows installation (you have to have a floppy with these drivers from the CD support disk ready to go), then copy Intel Matrix Storage Manager from the mobo support CD, open it and configure the RAID for your SATA drives post windows installation. from Newegg.com The expansion capabilities of this board are great. Cons: Overclock could frustrating first time but after a while is a piece of cake. Other Thoughts: First core i7 920 build and I am really satisfied and happy with it. from Newegg.com all the wires can be roughted around this mob and not over it to block side window view ! N bridge and S bridge both run cool .stalk cpu fan and heat sink is very workable. unlike duo 2 core's super stiff push pins....,,, this mod is tight ..and best of all ASRock X58 Supercomputer is made with Quallity, fast, very sufficiant, workes great .one of the best mobs iv owned!!!! ASROCK Tech support is the BEST IV EVER DELT WITH !THEY ARE WAY COOL , GOOD PEOPLE! from Newegg.com
