Very stable with overclocking E2180 from 2.0 Gz to 2.75 so far. Will try to get 3.0 soon. MSI updates the drivers AND bios online from their website and through XP without having to use DOS (for bios update). Cons: Onboard harware SATA ports 6 and 7 (Sil 4723) would not recognize my Raid 0 array on cold boot in the morning. from Newegg.com It took me a day or two to try and figure out the problem. Turns out something (don't know what..) in the BIOS was preventing vista from installing. So you just have to update the BIOS (go to MSI's website). The sound card is also set to disabled by default in the BIOS, so you might have to enable that. from Newegg.com So its not anything i could take an egg away for. Cons: The overclocking. MSI's lack of intructions of flashing bios. I had to go in the help section of their website to find the correct instruction on making a dos boot on a flash drive, with vista. from Newegg.com Pros: n/a Cons: n/a Other Thoughts: this is in reguards to the previous poster's comment that this does not support wolfdale processors. first of all, ALWAYS upgrade the bios to the latest available one from the motherboard manufacturer (this should be second nature to DIY builders) second of all, according to MSI's website, 1333Mhz FSB can ONLY be achieved via manual bios configuration. this means, if you have to use another processor to accomplish this, do so. from Newegg.com I have updated all drivers and even stopped overclocking my Quad Extreme chip. I am going to replace the board with an XFX board to see if I can eliminate the annoying crashes. Other Thoughts: Also, many of the MSI utilities won't run in Vista 64. from Newegg.com Cons: What's a con? Other Thoughts: Read about all kinds of problems with this board but had none. Setup is e8400 processor,MSI 9600gt 512m,4gig of OCZ DDR2 800. On Vista 64bit. from Newegg.com Pros: Expandibility is quite good on this board, supports quad-core, SLi ready, and up to 8gb of RAM, on board audio is surprisingly excellent! Cons: MSI is more or less child proofing this board with the DOT (dynamic overclocking technology) tool. you can only go up to 15% OC, with pre-set OC levels. from Newegg.com Cons: While this board emphasizes improved OCing, it is, in fact, a pain to actually achieve on this board, especially with no support for DDR2-1066 RAM. While hardware RAID drivers are, for all intensive purposes, functional, they are a complete hassle to setup and use (I have no experience with the software RAID, and I'd stay away from that anyway). If you read the MSI forums, you will see many users having cold boot problems when using the diamond, as am I. The Northbridge fan is extremely load, though thats not the true issue, as you can easily replace it with another fan; the true issue comes with installing a chipset water block/replacing the heatsink, as doing so will require you to entirely replace the large and elaborate heatpipe cooling system in the board. from Newegg.com Pros: Good Features.
