gigabyte would be better off to redesign the mobo so the ports face up and not out the edge as you are not guaranteed that there will be free space on the sides of the board.

don't believe the hype; the ich10r chipset from intel does not have drivers that support sata hotswap, so if you want to use esata drives be prepared to use the gigabyte jmicron sata ports on this
