Also, I set the color temp to the D6500 setting in the display's menu. When set correctly, the picture quality is quite high for a computer monitor. Blacks are decent and were not tinted. They are not the best monitors for tremendous dynamic color range that you might wish for high quality picture editing or high speed gaming (contrast 800:1). The black is not as pure as one might like and there is a little backlighting getting through at the edges. If it wasn't for that low price tag, though, I'd say run away. You do get 1900x1200 resolution, which is high but barely adequate for a screen this size. from Tigerdirect.com This monitor is a great deal overall. I also have a Viewsonic 2835, which is the same size with slightly better image quality for a much higher price. With default settings, the image suffers slightly from a lack of sharpness when displaying small black text on a white or grey background. Brightness: At 500 cd/m2 (as opposed to 300 or 350 cd/m2), this monitor MORE than makes up for its 800:1 contrast ratio. It allows the contrast to be turned down to keep the screen as black as possible (which is quite dark on my black background desktop) while the brightness can be turned up to compensate. The colors are solid, overall picture quality is very sharp and the price couldn't be lower (or so I thought, as the price has gone down by $20 since I bought it 2 months ago.)
