We purchased this mixer to replace a 25-year old Kenwood stand mixer. Kenwood was purchased by DeLonghi but thankfully kept the solid mixer line with a few minor improvements. from Buy.com In 2005, this one a best mixer award and it has the most powerful motor in it's class. Everything about this mixer from the way it works to the attachments, to the way it looks is top-notch. We could have saved trouble buying the Cuisinart which seems to be the only stand mixer people want to carry in the US, but are extremely happy that we went with this one. A front chromed cover removes for attachments like the meat grinder, and two top chromed covers, one high-speed and one low-speed are for the blender, food-processor and other attachments. from Target.com My mother bought the DeLonghi mixer DSM-7 (same as this except for 7 quarts instead of 5) on Amazon for my wife and within 6 months it stopped working (a gear that protects the motor broke). I called up Amazon who told me it had been too long and that we needed to deal with DeLonghi. from Amazon.com Delonghi makes a great mixer but what happens when it breaks?
