You also have to hold the bowl back, which I recall having to do on my 70's model. First thing I did was make a single batch of cookies. Other than not mixing the bottom of the bowl it was everything I expected from 350 watts. Then I made pizza dough for 2 pizzas. from Walmart.com I have owned a Sunbeam Mixmaster for 27 years and loved it!
