It softened, it cooked popcorn, it defrosted well. Sadly, it stopped working with a flash of light. I called the repair people from GE and waited a week to have them come. The man looked at it and said the the magnetron (a part that is covered)went bad. from Amazon.com We got this as part of the Profile set to match our range/oven. It has some great features, like a push display, and a boost feature to REALLY get some air OUT!
