for an older windows 98 box for family members who need basic computing resources such as internet, email and word/excel; and provides an easy to operate experience for computer technophobes.
generally i'm happy with my mac it's easy to surf the web and good for moderate gaming and video/photo editing.
set up is a breeze and the os makes it easy to use.
on the 1gb ram version it is relatively easy to install additional ram (i've added 2gb more).
when i got around to doing the 4gb ram upgrade (really really easy, took me 5 minutes to do, $50) it now operates at top speed nonstop.
through the mini-dvi connection so even though i can connect it to my television through a hdmi cable, i have to route the audio separately which seems needlessly complicated in this day and age.
also, props to amazon on hoe easy it is to address a problem.
i bough my first mac computer not only do i love it its so easy to use.
i didn't know anything about mac when i switched over and i found it the be incredibly intuitive, easy to understand, and addictive!!
the 15" led backlit display (available on the previous models as well) is simply gorgeous, with crisp graphics and easy-on-the-eyes clarity.
battery would last any longer than 4 hours at the maximum but was pleasantly surprised to find that for surfing/email type and the occasional cnn/youtube flash videos getting 6+ hours was quite easy.
one of the things i like, in addition to the ease of use of programs and the seemless integration is that there are no virus programs to run that slow the computer down tremendously.
small enough that it's easy to travel with, but large enough that it's easy to use as your main computer, if you like working on a laptop.

the whole buying process was easy.
also i have found it surprisingly easy to live without a optical drive, as most software is accessible over the internet; i do however keep a macbook air superdrive at home for the rare occasion
easy to read.
and the brightness is easy and fast to adjust, thanks to the keyboard shortcuts.
it is easy to back up with time machine to a small external drive.
if the battery holds up reasonably well for a year or so and it's easy to get replacement batteries, i think it's not a bad decision, but if these batteries are not good quality and don';t last it'll
now i have found that after a painful couple of days of moving my critical stuff that 80gb is in fact fine for me - just make it easy for me to move my stuff on and off of it.
easy-peasy.
sturdy, easy to clean, doesn't pick up fingerprints, though like the mbp, hurts wifi.
