i purchased the mac book pro 2.66 ghz with 4 gb ram--which is what i had in my last mac book pro.
i configured it through apple with the 128gb ssd and apps install incredibly fast and launch instantly.
since its my first apple product ever i got use to the osx very fast and felt ive been missing out all my life, i love the new trackpad, got use to it very fast as well ..its like ive been using it

i can't believe how much faster it is to load vmware fusion on this laptop.

my model is the 1.86 ghz, 2 gb ram, 128 ssd used with a speck cranberry speck see-thru case -- it fits my portability needs perfectly.
so how fast is it ?.
as for hardware performance, it's nearly on par with my on-the-job mac pro workstation (2x2.8ghz xeons, 2gb ram) in the majority of things i do (web design/development).
btw, apple calls these macs portables, so as not to make an impression that they recommend it to be placed on your lap, this is according to the mac genius guy i talked to at an apple store.
this is my first experience on a mac, the user experience is far much better than on windows machines, the set up was so easy, user restriction for children is quite nice from what time to what time
