the openings in the sides allows me to easily transport the laptop and cushtop.
it does not slide up or down or side by side.
i have a 17" laptop and the larger side fits it well without the computer hanging over the edge or anything, and puts the computer at a more comfortable level to look at and type on.
note only does it have semi-hard surfaces for the laptop to sit on, which keeps the fan intake open allowing my laptop to cool itself, but both surfaces (both sides) have a very nice fabric covering
it keeps my laptop cool so it doesn't shut down from overheating , i'm now able to put my laptop on my lap instead of to the side on the cushion of my couch and it doubles, for me, as a "desktop" to
the strap should go over ones' head so that the bag can hang to ones' side.
the carring handle is on the side than on the top.
the laptop compartment provides enough protection, it has an additional padding on the bottom, as well as on the sides.
just make sure you know the depth of your laptop because my laptop is about two inches and it "just" fits inside the laptop side of the bag.
you can make it fit, but it's an extremely tight squeeze (the side threads look like they might split), and you can't just pull it out - you have to leave the sleeve in there and struggle to remove
its external horizontal side pocket (holds matching brown removable power supply storage sleeve) zipper is deep set and gets stuck on its internal stitching.
when i opened it, i was surprised with the thick cushion for the actual laptop spot which is on the back side of the case.
it lacks a regular handle on the long side (it has one on the short side but that makes it drag on the ground when i walk and i'm not short).
also, the logo is raised/grippable just enough on one side so that you can grab the case out of your bag without having it slip out of your hand.
she carries a power supply, bluetooth mouse, memory card reader, and more in the side pockets.
an over the shoulder strap would be nicer than a carry strap and could be stored in the side pocket when not in use.
i got this because of the side storage pocket, and this has worked out well.
there have been two different batches of this product shipped, one with an extra millimeter on both sides of the monitor cover and one without those millimeters.
my brother in law had issues with an earlier model of case: the dvi plug could not be fully inserted into the laptop side because the speck case prevented a snug fit.
does have a couple of rough/sharp edges, but they generally don't interfere unless you bump it from the side.
i needed to cut 2 small peices off the back side attaching to the keyboard/speaker portion of the laptop.
pegs on the bottom to keep it from slipping, and doesn't block any of the input openings on the sides/front (and because it's clear, doesn't cover up the cute little light-up apple logo on top lol).
also the side that in earlier models used to cover the inputs individually now is one big opening.
this hard sided protector is cool.
also know, when carrying the bag any other way than with both shoulders, like by you side, using the top grip, it would seem as heavy as you would expect it to be - you feel the full weight of it.
a velvet like fabric where your laptop goes, a small bag for the power cord and the other compartments for other things like pens, cases and such isnt the scratchy fabric its also on the softer side.
thick on both sides, while having a soft, felt liner.
in the side compartment (where the thin gray section is on the front of the bag in the picture shown) i can fit an audio cable (1/8" to 1/8"), another audio cable (1/8" to rca stereo), and probably a

yes, the product info says 30, but the stitching on the reverse side of the ds game holder ruins 3 of the slots.
it's the size and thickness of a kid's lunchbox, so it is a tad on the bulky side.
mine is configured similarly to the picture shown with the ds in the center and the charger and headphones in the compartments on either side.
on the good side, this case is perfect for those who have a large ds game collection.
(i flip the pads, attaching one of the empty ds sides to the back.) with a little wriggling, i believe you ca fit more gba games sideways in the ds slots, if you have more gba than ds games.
the pocket has zippers on both sides, and the zipper on the main compartment goes a few inches down the short sides so you can get the computer out pretty easily even though the sleeve is snug.
the side zipper pockets are nice because all the accessories go in there.
the side pocket has plenty of storage room for the ac adapter as well.
i'd suggest caselogic to design a pouch that can be unzipped from the main case on one edge and flopped over to the side, so the cords are not on top of the computer during the x ray.
6 sided protection, not bulky for a 17inch laptop bag.
i love that it has a seperate padded pocket just for the notebook so it is protected from all sides.
there is a divider inside so we put the laptop on one side and miscellaneous papers/notepads on the other side which also features smaller pouches.
only negative, it's a little on the stiff side.
other side of the outside (the part that rests against you when you're carrying it) there is a velcroe pocket that is large enough to hold something like a newspaper or magazine.
on the inside, of course, the laptop area which is very well padded with some velvet feeling material with a velcrowed to the bottom pad for the laptops downfacing side when in the backpack.
the 15" macbook fits perfectly inside the compartment, with almost no sloshing around, so it's protected on all sides.
also, it's pretty handy because when you are wearing it you can swing it around front and it's got this great pocket with a zipper on the side which becomes straight across when you have it turned
i was afraid that the zip would scratch my laptop from the inside, but the inner side of the zip is cover so my laptop is totally safe.
the sleeve unzips halfway down each side, making it very convenient to remove or insert the laptop horizontally or vertically.
3 sided zip makes for easy access and removal of laptop.
the zippers are very heavy duty and opens to slip the laptop from the top or side.
it would also be nice to have something to be able to tell which side is the top quickly.
using this case, i just put the case on top of my lap, unzip the two sides (simultaneously; one zipper per hand) and then open my laptop which also opens the top of the case.
the sides zip up easily.
it holds my nikon d3,with a 24-70 lens attached, as well as the 70-200 on the left side with the right side available for a flash or other small lens or misc.
inside the bag, there is a flap (probably made for semi-rain protection) that you can wrap over the top of your camera gear and tuck in on the sides.
i own a acer aspire 15" and a nikon d200 with 18-200 lens attach, it is very hard for me to put these 2 inside, the 2 straps in front is too short i have to pull it hard in order to buckle them, i
only one thing i don't like the straps at the side.
also the zipper only runs along one side - which is a problem for me because i have to slide my notebook in sideways into my notebook bag.
neoprene material, handy loop strap, and side pocket are the main pluses.
