i've got a nice solodex backpack for my 13" white macbook, but i usually leave the mac out on a table so it's easy to access.
it makes carrying my computer a lot more convenient- i just slip my computer into my backpack and go.
its great because it keeps your computer safe and you don't have to be worried when its in your backpack and hauling to classes, home, and work.
now my macbook is much safer while in my backpack when i'm going around campus!
i carry my computer around all the time in my backpack, and the cover stays on tight.
the case stands up to a lot of use (i bring it in my backpack to school everyday), and the outside pocket is perfect for the power cord, headphones, thumb drive, etc.
it even has a strong strap to grab on to while the sleeve is carried outside of my computer backpack (swissgear/wenger maxxum).
i carry this sleeve in an ll bean backpack, the same one i had in high school 15 years ago.
i wanted to be able to safely shove my laptop in my backpack.

however, if you are looking for a slightly larger bag, like a backpack, to carry several notebooks and other books, than this bag isn't quite big enough for you!
i purchased the belkin 15" messenger bag because i thought it looked nice and because i prefer messenger style bags in general over briefcase or backpack designs.
i just ordered a new backpack from belkin!
i'll also stick with a backpack type bag next time; it will make it easier to carry everything, especially through those long terminals at the airports.
most people prefer backpacks for their laptops but if you've just your laptop to carry around, you will want to go for one of these.
it even fits in my backpack for transportation.

this is a very well-engineered camera backpack.
i have to admit that on several occasions, i have taken out the camera insert and used it in a different backpack -- but that's what is great about tenba interchangeable parts!...
i can't check the camera gear in its backpack - bye-bye to all that gear.
i recommend this sleeve without hesitate, i was moving in my bike with my mbp within a targus backpack, but i feel that it was exposed to a hit or scratch.

before i purchased the speck hardcase i carried my laptop in a padded zip up canvas type case that fit in the backpack it came with.
