i usually pack my canon 20d, 24-70mm f2.8l lens, 16-35mm f2.8l lens, filters, canon sd800 is (or other small point and shoot camera), 7 battery packs, 2 chargers, cf card wallet, 2 card readers,
think about one that comes with wheels (next model up) if you are planning on hauling around a lot of gear and aren't very big and strong with a good back.
i've got all my camera gear in there, five lenses, one canon digital rebel, flash, and, in addition to my laptop, i also lug around a 300 gb external hard drive.
and should you bust one of the clips, it's hard/virtually impossible to replace them, and they are sewn on, not on an adjustable strap like most back-packs.
i had the hardest time finding a bag that would fit the asus m70 - until i found this pack.
indeed it is a durable bag that meets my needs.
i was carrying so much equipment that it was hard to lift my backpack with one hand, but when i had it on my back, there was no problem.
i doubt a 17" laptop would fit unless you got the 7x version.
generally the materials are high quality, very durable, and the workmanship superb.
next i think i will attach another tamrac accessory case for my ipod.
just returned from 10 day trip to yellowstone national park and grand teton national park.hiked over 12 miles of trails with this back pack containing 2 digital slrs,a 70-200,300 prime,a 1.4
i was able to include a nikon d300 camera with a nikkor 80-400mm lens, a nikon d200 camera with a nikkor 18-200mm lens, a nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 lens, two nikon sb800 flash units, a nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8
this case is smaller then it looks.
i like the accessory attachment points, which are handy for water bottles or big lens cases.
very well made; strong construction,
the velcro is also very strong, so you never have to worry about it coming loose.
i'd highly recommend it - it is a bit heavy even with nothing in it because of all the padding and durable fabric but is quite comfortable when on your back.
my 17 inch laptop fit in there quite comfortably and the upper portion of the pack provided plenty of room for the power cord and few extras that i normally take along with me.
there are 3 main compartments - 1 padded area along the back for a laptop (easily fits my 17" mac); the top half of the front is an open compartment, decent size (but not too generous) could fit a
the main reason i bought this is that when i travel, i no longer have to carry a seperate laptop case and camera equipment case on a plane.
