i tried his suggestion, but i can not get full functionality of the keyboard.
- the special function keys (one-touch word, excel, etc) on my microsoft keyboard continued to work through this switch
i needed another one to run a linux box also and have sound capability it gets it all done for me.
i love having usb keyboard and mouse inputs, dvi on all the ends, soft switch and puck switch capability, but if having a multifunctional keyboard hot key use is a deal breaker, look for another kvm
it sounds like a lot of cons, but everything is working perfectly now, and if you compare to other kvms with the same functionality, this one is the only logical choice for the price.
have only used it with 2 other machines so far, but very satisfied with functionality, quality, and overall value.
installation was a breeze, and the function is simple.
i tried different adapters and other solutions to no avail, and ultimately had to go to a usb switch to get full functionality with the mouse.
despite not being very elegant, it performs the function it is required to perform: switching vga + sound between two sources.
i bought an adapter to get around the issue, but the combo of the kvm and the ps2-to-usb adapter seems to absorb many of the special functions from the keyboard.
(this may be a configuration issue.
but that is more of a design thing than any functionality thing.
the workstation and laptop both have analog & digital video capability.
i am generally satisfied with the switch, with a couple of reservations, one of which stems from a limitation in functionality that seems to be shared by all kvm switches.
it functions with one monitor on two pc's with keyboard and mouse usb capability.
even though the hotkey capability provided for more flexible placement i gladly trade that off for reliable operation.
separate monitors and speakers are used in my configuration so the video switching quality has not been considered.
pros: this switch functions as designed.
i'm not using the usb functionality, so in order to power the device, i just plugged one of the usb cables into the back of my 360, which seems to output power even when the console is off.
the functionality of the unit is great, but i hadone caveat that i'll explain under "cons".
i searched though others and many people said they weren't letting their hardware function properly, or were laggy.
for me, i ended up having to restore a disk image to get back to a functional machine.
pros: compact, usb interfaces cons: no keyboard hot key function that i have found, you have to use the supplied button other thoughts: there are 2 usb connectors per computer, 1 for
this switch did everything i wanted and the remote control function was included at a fraction of the price that competing products cost.
the hookup was intuitive (didn't need the manual) and both the remote and manual switching functioned flawlessly.
all in all i really like the build quality and functionality of the switch.
my configuration was out hdmi to lcd monitor 22" lg with 1680x1050 native resolution.
other kvms i've tried can't decode even the basic signals from enhanced mice, turning your enhanced function mouse into a non-function mouse.
also, the speakers connected great with minor configuration.
also, it has the ability to remember your monitor's possible resolutions so if you boot a pc while the focus is on another pc the resolution will come up just fine (this function is not automatic
i was able to reprogram the hotkey since the default didn't make much since with this keyboard and could "print out" the results inside of notepad to see the current configuration.
scroll lock switching function doesn't work with the logitech wave cordless keyboard.
if i plug the mouse into the mouse port on the kvm it doesn't function correctly.
it functions well as long as i keep max resolution.
my current configuration is: comcast hd dvr, appletv, xbox360, and ps3 going into the switch, which is then connected to a 24" dell hd monitor.
tested configuration was samsung blu-ray bd p1400, toshiba hd a3 hd-dvd player, and comcast digital tuner with hdmi out connected to 4-port device.
i'm using it inside a cabinet in conjunction with a logitech harmony 890 advanced universal remote control which has an rf capability (the logitech controls the iogear hdmi switch with no problem),
excellent software functionality.
other thoughts: i did not want to install the driver software on either system so can't comment on the software switch functionality.
software to allow switching using keyboard shortcuts and right-click functionality instead of using the "clicker".
other thoughts: i don't use the audio switching function, as i sometimes require simultaneous audio output from both systems.
this is a function of the system's drivers, i believe.
don't get me wrong, it is very easy to navigate the different functions.
the panorama function really blew me away.
"if you are not too picky and just looking for a general camera this could work.set it on auto mode and shoot away, must shots will come out acceptable.it does have a great white balance function,
i was very pleased with the camera's menu and functions.
