just plug it in and hit the switch whenever you want to change computers.
one system is running ubuntu 8.10 64bit and the other 32bit windowsxp.i plugged it in, and without drivers, everything just worked.
on occassion, i have to unplug my mouse and plug it back in for one of my computers to recognize the mouse.
plugged it in and it works exactly as it should.
it worked for me the first time i plugged in the usb cables.
the fix for this is to plug the keyboard into the mouse port of the kvm, and plug the mouse into one of the keyboard usb ports, install the kb software on both computers and all works good.
other thoughts: i did not need to plug in the switch, since i'm using the "scroll lock>scroll lock>enter" shortcut.
i plugged it in as soon as it arrived, to find that it simply worked - perfectly.
i have to say, it's plug and play.
iogear also offers another kvm, a dual link dvi kvm with usb 2.0 and 7.1 audio, but at a much higher price.also, we did noticed that some dvi video cards do not handle hot plug well, so we recommend
truly plug and play.
last thing, if you switch a lot, you'll quickly get tired of hearing window's usb plug/unplug sounds.

sometimes the keyboard or the mouse will stop working and the only way to get it back is to reset the kvm by unplugging the power and both usb connections to the pcs (they also supply power).

i ended up plugging it into the port on the kvm that's labeled for the mouse.
it does run the usb stuff through the monitor plug.

for some reason, the device would go unresponsive several times a day, and the only fix was to unplug the usb connection on both pcs (the kvm derives power from either one being plugged in), and

i've got the logitech mx5500 and mx revolution keyboard/mouse bundle from here and i plugged in the bluetooth dongle and it worked!
i hooked a usb hub up to the usb port on the cable and then plugged my keyboard and mouse into the hub.
part of the problem may have been that i used a ps/2-to-usb plug, which worked fine with a single pc.

the audio plug in, as stated in previous reviews, is tight and if you move the unit expect to possibly loose a channel on your audio.

i have dish network and when i plug my dish network receiver into the switch and i plug another device into the switch, something very strange happens.
i plugged it in, hooked up the hdmi cables, and it worked.....simple as that.
