i figure the keyboard port is specifically filtered so it can be used with the hot-key feature, and i suspect the mouse port is a plain passthrough which would probably work with a hub or any usb

i love having usb keyboard and mouse inputs, dvi on all the ends, soft switch and puck switch capability, but if having a multifunctional keyboard hot key use is a deal breaker, look for another kvm

the kvm hot key works great, too (hit scroll lock twice to switch between computers-- the kvm recognizes which ports are in use and only switches between those rather than all 4).
