i don't think it would have added any cash to the production costs to be usb, other thoughts: the next model up is usb but other than that is pretty much the same product but costs from Newegg.com also it resets monitor selection itself, so the monitor selector should be double checked each boot-up, reboot, and even wake-up from sleep mode. from Newegg.com that way i could switch over my printer with the switch rather than having to reconnect the usb from the printer to the appropriate computer.dual monitor support would be even better. from Newegg.com currently not using the audio portion but the keyboard, mouse and monitor work very well. from Newegg.com i was able to hook up by my laptop and desktop to my acer monitor and get 1680x1080 resolution. from Newegg.com - fast switching speed, limited only by the monitor (samsung 216bw here) - all necessary cables are included. from Newegg.com - with ps/2 ports being phased out, the usb version of this unit (iogear gcs-932u) might be a better way to go. from Newegg.com originally i had to get a bytecc bt-2000 usb to ps2 adapter for my laptop and now i'm ordering another for my new destop which does not have a mouse ps2 input. from Newegg.com - the audio switching circuit causes a small loss in quality (rolled off highs, slight background hiss). from Newegg.com very easy to install and very reliable. from Newegg.com
