TigerDirect was efficient and fast as usual, however I do wish they would use packaging material that is recyclable, such as corn starch peanuts. The MFGs should use recyclable materials as well, along with packaging that doesnt require a razor knife to open... I think IOGear could save the consumer a little money by dropping the stand, since it's not to effective with all the wires attached and pushing the buttons make the stand useless for retension. With all that said, it is a good product and I would buy another one if I needed one. from Tigerdirect.com I did that and the mouse still did not work. The sound has not worked on it either. I'm extremely disappointed with this purchase and wasted a lot of time troubleshooting it and buying/returning additional equipment. It's hard to find wired devices today, I can't believe they do not support them. from Buy.com Other Thoughts: I already had a 4 port KVM that worked without audio... The only reason I got this was for the additional audio capabilities so of course I'm not pleased... This is the first and LAST time I buy anything from IOGear... I should have just saved myself the time and trouble and flushed my 120 bucks down the crapper... from Newegg.com This is a real problem while playing online games and is the cause of a number of online deaths. Very frustrating to be in a critical situation and suddenly your mouse goes deal for 4 seconds. Other Thoughts: Talked to IOgear support about this and was told that the problem may be that I had a PS/2 to USB converter on my keyboard. It wasn't confirmed. from Newegg.com It's unusable. I don't care for the oddball cables either -- if you are hooking up keyboard, mouse, video, audio, and microphone, it saves space. But if any of your machines need only a subset of these, the hydra cables are a mess (unless you take a scissors to them and cut off the unneeded parts, but then you're in trouble in the future, as this KVM won't work with conventional cables, so you'll have to buy new ones from IOGEAR if you ever need to expand in the future. from Amazon.com Pros: Painless setup, fast switching, excellent support for high resolutions, all cables included. Cons: No OSD, only USB 1.1, Keyboard and Mouse USB ports are on the front of the unit, and even though it comes with a firmware upgrade cable, and the manual discusses at length how to upgrade the firmware, there is zero mention of downloadable firmware on the IOGear website. Other Thoughts: I've used the GCS1714 for several years at work, so I knew these were nice units. from Newegg.com It does have some limitations just as the other customer reviews stated and instances where you need to do workarounds & reset it which can be a nuisance. For instance, I couldn't use my existing mouse (but I did get to keep my keyboard). The IOGEAR Wireless Mouse that comes with this combo contains a wireless charging station which runs on its own power source. I've found in the past that USB ports in the front of computers do not have enough power sourced to them to run such things as keyboards & mouses or heavier powered hardware while the USB ports on the back of a computer do. from Amazon.com I have had this product for nearly 45 days and I am pleased to report that it works as advertised, though I did have two tiny issues. This device supports Mac mini (powerPC Tiger 10.4), Dell E521 (XP pro), IBM Thinkpad T42 in docking station (XP pro)and a older Dell Dimension 4100 (W2Kpro/Suse9 dual boot). from Amazon.com works fine with Fedora, Redhat, etc when using modern USB drivers. Cons: the mouse port didn't like my mouse. Other Thoughts: before this Iogear, i had bought a couple KVMs from another very well known consumer low end KVM maker. those were rubbish that had compatibility issues that were never resolved. from Newegg.com USB enabled product, there is no NEED to buy any cables it is cheaper to buy USB-to-PS2 converter than the special PS/2 IOGEAR cable. I have different native resulution on each one of my boxes and the KVM switch handles that fine even in my highest resulution 1700x1200. from Amazon.com
