My last juicer was centrifugal type and lasted 20 years. When it died recently, I started researching a replacement only to find a mind-boggling amount of brands and styles. After all the time invested, I'm glad I decided on this Omega. The juicer is really impressive. from Amazon.com I have had 3 centrifugal juicers in the last 10 years and have found them all inadequate. They all produced too much pulp waste vs juice produced and were difficult and time consuming to clean. With the Omega 8003, I have finally found the juicer of my dreams! It quietly creates great juice from everything especially wheatgrass and other greens like cilantro and parsley. from Amazon.com Those work by a spinning cup that has rasping "bumps" that shred your vegetable and then extract the juice with a centrifugal action. The high speed spinning makes a loud noise. In the case of the auger style juicer (like this Omega), an auger provides the feed into a mesh sieve that crushes the vegetable and strains the juice (by the force of pressure) through the sieve, into a pitcher beneath. The juice is extracted with more force but the auger is a lot quieter. from Amazon.com As for speed... Juicing isn't fast food!! Don't be put off by people saying that the juicer is slow; I previously had a centrifugal type juicer (and those things are fast!), although the Omega is slower, once you start juicing you'll have a glass of juice in less than five minutes. For those complaining that they have to chop up the vegs into small pieces, give me break and don't be lazy! from Amazon.com I can't add much to what has already been said, this is a great juicer. My criteria for a juicer was that it had to be easy to clean, juice anything and it should not take up tons of space. The 8003 fits that criteria perfectly. I had a Champion juicer, which does not work well at all for leafy greens, produces lots of heat and foam, and is tough to clean. The Omega rotates slowly so it won't heat up your juice, and any kind of vegetable goes through it.
