only draw back for the product was that of it being to heavy for her.
only drawback i can see is that it is a little bigger and heavier than some other irons i looked at, but don't let that hold you back, this is a great iron.
if you let the iron go to "sleep" by not using it for a few minutes, you have to push the temperature selector button to turn it back on.
i went back and felt the iron when i noticed it did this and the iron was cool but it seems that everything should turn off.
i have taken all information and put it in the original box with info on my registering the iron so i can send it back.
and, it will go into "sleep" mode in just about 2 or 3 minutes, but wakes right back up when you pick it up.
back in july, i purchased this iron as my latest, expensive rowenta iron started leaking like a sieve (at just over 1 year old).
so, sadly, we're taking it back and will hopefully get a new one that works.
i went back to a corded iron and was satified with it but that darn cord kept getting in the way.
it heats up quickly; and when you're finished ironing, you just have to unplug the retractable cord and snap the lid on and put it back in the closet.
i will probably never go back to a cord again.
i can iron about 1/3 of a shirt before i have to stick it back on the charger, which is pretty annoying.
i don't like that it loses heat fairly quickly and needs to be constantly put back on the base.
i need to always put it back on the base when i am moving the item i am ironing so the iron stays heated.
while you are re-arranging the item you are ironing put the iron back in the base, and it maintains the heat well.
i have a long ironing board so i keep the base on one end and just put the iron back on the base between readjusting the garment.
you just push a button, pull out the tank, fill the tank, and slide it back in, there you have it!
check back in 5 years and we'll tell you if it outlasts the maytag!
i have developed tendonitis in the past trying to get it clean and keep it clean because of all the hard scrubbing and intense mopping it takes to clean it...not to mention that my back, which is not
i highly recommend this shark steam station, once you use it you will never go back to basic ironing again.
once you use one, you can't go back to just a regular steam iron.
the iron was placed on back order so we had to wait about two weeks.
the burst of steam button is on the right and the spray on the left which is backwards to me but i got used to it pretty quickly.
instead of setting the traditional iron down while you move your garment around, you place it back on the dock, and it continues to heat it up!
it's hard to find a new iron out there that is smooth and gets the job done without the headache of "breaking it in" - i have another for backup whenever the other decides to quit and i bought one
only problem is b&d has put an unopenable screw at the back so that even fuse blows off, it becomes useless!!
i'll never go back.
plus, when the iron is tilted flat again, the iron starts back up and doesn't seem to shut down if it remains flat and motionless for a long period of time.
the first time i used it, i actually went back to my closet looking for more clothes to iron - unheard of!
the pure cotton shirts i never wore because i couldn't get the creases out are now back in use.
the biggest draw back is that you can not see the water level.
but i have never been good with irons myself, and after trying jiffy i have no patience going back to my old travel steamer, which is actually pretty nice too.
i will need to send this gem back because the instruction clearly specify that you must keep the steamer verticle i.e.
those of you that think you would never iron sheets try this-the top sheet and the pillow covers--you will never go back-it's like being in a really nice hotel, and it takes less than 10 mins.
excellent product, the only draw back is that it is heavy.
vertical press only works if you have some tension on the fabric you are steaming, for example, i use it to steam the creases out of the back of my suit coats.
my old iron failed because the cord from the flexing back and forth motion, was arching.
repaired/replaced under warranty with no problems except for the $10 it took to ship it back.
it made every piece look almost as though it just came back from the cleaners--and without any threat of that horrid melted-fabric shine you get when you hold a hot iron over a pocket for too long.
i'm back here to buy a second one for my friend that equally loves it.
the only draw back is, given its size, i was only able to steam 1 or 2 items at a time before i had to refill.
i ran out of h20 and went back for another load.
i just got back from a cruise, and was able to have the family looking freshly "pressed" for formal nights, even though irons aren't allowed in state rooms.
summary: my t-fal started leaking water after 1-2 years of moderate use and i was looking for an iron that wasn't going to set me back more than $50.
