the first iron i bought was the cheep sunbeam that had great steam and a metal sole plate with a non stick surface the worked good, the trouble was it shut off every 15 min.
the iron has just enough heft without being too heavy, and the sole plate is larger than average, which means you cover more surface area in a shorter amount of time.
the surface of the sole plate is unbelievably smooth and the iron literally glides over the item.
stainless surface make it very efficient.
the steam feature along with the surface temperature of the iron can be set to do exactly what is needed for any fabric or garment.
the iron also has a non-stick surface so when you use starch it doesn't stick to the iron and make a burnt mess.
the "max" indicator assumes the iron is flat on the surface.
he swears by the ultraglide surface and texts me every time he irons something thanking me for his awesome iron.
and, the iron plate is not a teflon surface (i think it's stainless?) so you don't have to worry about it flaking off after a few months of use.
i can clean it's ironing surface from starch etc.
the over 400 micro steam holes, the high pressure steam feature combined with the steam tip and the platinum coated ironing surface literally will cut your ironing time in half!
advantages - micro steam holes that allow thorough and uniform steam output, pointed tip with steam holes to get at hard to iron places like in-between buttons, cuffs, etc., large capacity water
surface is plently big enough with a sharp point for hitting the tight places.
cons: could have a bit greater surface area.
i've owned two other t-fal irons in the past and i really like the gliding surface and the shape of the iron.
pretty happy with this iron so far...a lot of thought has gone into makeing this iron from the wide base to it's ceramic ironing surface...the easy to fill water reservoir is one of the best i've
nearly all the sewing patterns i use call for some form of fusible and there's nothing more frustrating than trying to do a large surface with a regular iron.
one last thought; we debated over whether we should get a press with a larger ironing surface (sf-680).
maybe a bigger surface might work better.
i love the steam output and the surface is very easy to clean.
the stainless surface glides over the clothes.
the biggest inconvenience, and this may be for all stainless steel plate irons is that a residue builds up on the surface (i do not use any starch on my clothes!) and adds drag to the ironing.
it wasn't designed to press the whole length of the ironing surface.
it feel off a coffee table while in the minolta case i purchased and it couldn't handle the 16 inch drop onto a carpeted surface.
place the camera on a solid surface - we use the tiny 7 inch tri-pod- and use the built in timer.
this iron is amazing the way it automatically raises off the surface as soon as your hand is removed from the handle (just like magic).
due to the cool auto lifting legs the hot surface is never exposed to touch accidentally, i love it!
shirts ready in less than a minute without using an ironing board and because this thing auto lifts while in the natural horizontal position i can put it down naturally on any surface and its safe).
soleplate does not glide over surface like the name implies....they should call it touch & drag to be more accurate.
the oliso iron lifts off the surface about 3/4" automatically when you lift your hand off of it.
coz i always worry that if i accidently wrap the cord around a hot iron or it touches the hot surface it will melt.
holes: i was skeptical on the amount of holes on the stainless surface of the iron, but the way it produces steam evenly, i am satified.
also, the surface is really smooth and makes the iron glide across your clothes.
the iron worked fine at first, but what ever material that is on the surface of the iron burned and turned brown.
foun it at target and got it because of these revies but when i got home, the water leaked when i held it at a small angle, after 1 hour of use, the surface became rough and damaged, and the middle
