This product worked out of the box without too much pain. I took an unused: LCD monitor, verizon/motorola cable box, and dvd player; hooked them together using the 1680ex and ran the audio to the AUX input on an AM/FM radio. from Amazon.com Pros: kind of HD, Shinny black box Cons: funny sounding audio, picture has small horizontal lines, remote did not work unless you were a foot away and pointed directly at it, menu system is horrible, ridiculous blinking lights on the front that had to be covered up with black tape Other Thoughts: spend an extra couple dollars and buy something that will actually work how you want it to from Newegg.com Why a 5-star rating ? Only because I need the YPbPr input featured in the 1680ex. I use this to route my DVD component output to play on my LCD display with the 15 pin D-sub. from Amazon.com I purchased this device to be able to turn an old lcd computer monitor into a stand-alone tv.
