I ordered this product to communicate with a parallel printer. Since current laptops don't have parallel ports I thought this would be an inexpensive solution to allow me to print from a laptop to a parallel printer that also has an IR port. from Compusa.com I was able to use the driver automatically retrieved by WIndows, which turned out to be the same one provided by the vendor. However I got conflicting instructions about using it as an unsigned driver. Finally, it turns out there is a conflict if you want to use this and your laptop already has an InfraRed device. Mine had a built-in device (which was not specificially ordered, just included). from Amazon.com I bought the Cables Unlimited Irda Adapter for my Polar S625X Heart Rate Monitor Watch. I was able to install the Cables Unlimited Irda Adapter on Windows XP with no problems. from Amazon.com I have to admit, I was frustrated getting this device to work at first. I contemplated returning it thinking it was not compatible with my computer and Heart Rate Monitor (HRM). With a little patience I was able to get the driver installed and after a few tries the Infrared adapter was able to sync my HRM with my computer. I use Vista 32-bit and a Polar S725X. from Amazon.com By the way, the human eye can not see the infra red so you don't know if it's working or not until your information is downloaded on the computer. They sent a USB to parallel cable instead!!. from Amazon.com I bought an HP Pavilion Vista 64 laptop at a big box store only to find out that I couldn't do a USB Hotsync with my Z22 because Palm didn't have a 64 bit USB driver. I also found that the IR port on the front of the laptop is receive only for the remote control included with the laptop. from Amazon.com After reading all of the review I settled on the Cables Unlimitted IRDA port. I put in the software, plugged in the USB IRDA port with the included USB extender cord and it worked like a charm. from Amazon.com Like many reviewers here, I purchased the Cables Unlimited USB1510 USB to IrDA Adapter to replace a Polar USB IR Interface that was failing. I found it looking for less expensive alternatives to the Polar version. from Amazon.com XP for tablet PC did not include a driver for my Palm Phone, was able to plug the IR into the PC and sync my phone to outlook for the first time. Have bought from Cables Unlimited multiple times, have always been happy with their service and speed of sending items. from Amazon.com
