Very nice even surface, heats evenly. My drip tray, made of brittle plastic, slid out the second time I used the griddle and shattered on our tile kitchen floor. Why, Presto's engineer's could not have designed a safety notch or latch on this part is beyond me. Then again the unit is made (and probably designed) in China, and I doubt that Chinese designers are big griddles users. from Amazon.com It tends to get pretty hot. The manual comes with cooking temps, but I found most of them to be a little high. Cooking a little more cool has helped things out for me. Again, this may be what has attributed to others' problems. from Amazon.com Have only used it a couple of times but the first thing I've noticed is that the griddle will start out at a nice cooking temperature, then drop off over a short period of time, no matter how high the setting on the heat control, and it will stay that way(obviously not good when cooking things such as pancakes). I'll also have to agree with another review that the griddle itself is very slippery on a smooth counter-top surface, so around kids/pets you might want to be cautious. I had a george foreman once...cleaning it was difficult because it couldn't get wet. I cook all my burgers on the Presto now.
