cons: rival's machine does not have the power to turn the canister against any resistance!
i've only owned rival and white mountain ice cream makers for the past 21 years.
we used the older (round bucket)rival that belongs to a friend with no problem but this oval shaped rival was useless to us.

having been wanting an ice cream maker for a while, i went against my better judgement and purchased the rival ice cream maker as an impulse buy at target.
maybe their engineers just didn't try _using_ their product before they released it; i can't think of any other good reason why they'd build something with such a poor design idea.so, save your money
i am now going to return my second rival ice cream maker and i think that i will try the cuisinart because it has a much better review.
i bought this ice cream maker and expected it to be a good investment because i've been pleased with "rival" as a brand.

the recipes included in the instruction manual surely rival ben and jerry's!
i received my rival ice cream maker as a christmas present and it was love at first sight.
