I was really looking forward to getting this item. My main criteria was a warm mist humidifier with the capability of running through the night without a refill. I did a lot of research, but based my purchase on the fact that Zojirushi's coffee maker is wonderful. On the plus side, the item is very easy to use and refill, doesn't take up a lot of space, and has no filters or cartridges to replace.
I find the lid a bit hard to detach so most of the time I leave it on when I am dumping the leftover water before refilling. It's heavy and hurts if it closes on your fingers. You'll definitely want to get the Zojirushi cleaning packets. Zojirushi ADC-05 Electric Dispensing Pot Cleaner 1 Oz.(28 gr.) (Shop around - you may be able to find a better deal.) I didn't realize that cleaning is recommended every 1-2 months.
This is the second Zojirushi humidifier that I have purchased, so I do have experience owning the first one. I purchased this 2nd one for my daughter's bedroom.
Before the hassles of cleaning cruddy cool mist humidifiers, dealing with tanks and such. All the other humidifiers have tons of nooks and crannies I could barely get clean. I love that I can just buy the Zojirushi cleaner for this humidifier and not have to deal with bleach, brushes, and vinegar.
This humidifier is very loud, I can't bear to stay in the same room while using it. The second big flaw is there is little control of how much water vapor I want to output. There are two choices, low(50%) and medium(60%). The comfort zone for human is 40% - 60%.
not too loud for a warm mist humidifier and it doesn't make the irregular "glug, glug, glug" sounds like humidifiers with inverted tanks.
on the other side, i found it a bit noisy sometimes, but nothing that will prevent you from sleeping.
i love the fact that there's no removable tank to refill, love the carrying handle (my daughter brings the empty humidifier downstairs each morning), love the magnetic power cord.
it is easy to use, does the job superbly, and -- most importantly -- is super-easy to clean.
what sets this humidifier apart from the competition, besides the price, is the ease of use, solid structure, and durability.
