I was prepared to give this a 4-star rating, but in spite of using filtered water, and brushing everything with the enclosed brush, it suddenly stopped working after 10 days. The fan still works, but the water pump must have failed- no more trickling of water, and no more mist output. For it to be so new, and then to fail rings of shoddy quality control at SunBeam's manufacturing plant. That's sad, because this could have been a very nice humidifier. from Amazon.com It stopped working soon after last Thanksgiving. I contacted the customer service and was told a replacement will be shipped in 8 weeks. What a hassle! from Amazon.com It's the Crane's adorable series of humidifiers that comes in many animal shapes: frog, pig, elephant, penguin, etc. I got the penguin and the mist that comes out is much finer, so it evaporates better into the air. The container seems to hold less water than the Sunbeam, but that's fine by me if the floors are spared! Too avoid big wet spots on the floor, place the humidifier high up and then lay a towel down on the floor in front of it. After running it 10 hours a night, the towel is barely moist when the device is at least 4 1/2 feet off the ground.
