This recent incarnation of Honeywell's humidifier isn't as good as their previous one, the HMW-2030, which I've had for 4 years. This one steams pretty quick but requires frequent cleaning, like every two weeks, to remove the mineral deposits on the heating plate. from Homedepot.com Water from the front grill and water from the side grills. I searched for a long time trying to find the right warm mist humidifier and now I'm regreting my purchase. I've called Honeywell and they are sending me a new cap. That said, I've had zero problems with this so far, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I've been using it almost non-stop for about 4 months and it's still working like new. We have one of these humidifiers, a Honeywell "cool mist" humidifier, and an Air-O-Swiss ultrasonic humidifer to humidify our 2,400 sq ft home in Phoenix, which has very low humidity especially in the winter time. This is the third season we've used this unit. from Amazon.com I've used warm mist humidifiers for several years and a regulated amount of mist production was never an issue. Older units just failed when there was mineral build-up on the heating element and now current warm-mist units seem to come with filters to prevent mineral build-up. (Be sure to look for this.) These older units, however, never had the problem of humidity control as this Honeywell product, and I wonder if all the current Honeywell "Quiet Steam" machines give you the option of no mist or too copious amounts of mist.
