the receiver is considered 'basic' but it's many audio setup features more than met my requirements (the passive hdmi is disappointing, but not a deal breaker).

the only con that i can make is that the hdmi input passes the audio to the device you are connecting to.

i am fairly good at electronics but this thing has me stumped, i read the reviews about having no sound through the hdmi, so i have tried digi co-ax, optical and analog.
