it sounds great in all formats but the pure direct adds to it.i am using klipsch cdt2800c in celining speakers, velodyn and sony subs(you can run 2 subs) and a yamaha center.

my sony blu-ray player does upconversion, then with the added upconversion that this receiver does, it looks really close to my actual bluray discs.this receiver is nice b/c it has all the controls

to have all of the features this receiver offers, you generally have to go up to the high end receivers like the denon's or the pioneers, or even the really high end yamaha's.
