You have to choose between power on or power off and keep the receiver's remote handy for the function not chosen. This is a true annoyance as it is my goal to standardize on a single remote at all TVs. I choose to place the blame with Verizon. Sound quality is excellent in my small 24x17 room with 5.1 setup using mix-matched Bose speakers. from Crutchfield.com What's great about it:?same very good sound (as always) What's not so great:?the inputs on the back are not assignables "I install home theater systems for a living and this this is always the brand I recommend to my costumers but with this model they limit your options too much they did not take in consideration that there are a lot of consumers that want to integrate their old equipment to the new receivers.case and point: you are limited to use for example: (component 1 input with optical input or componet 2 input with coax input) if your component does not have optical or coax output you are done or if you have two or more components with cox output you can't reassign the inputs to make it work with your old componets like you could with other receivers like the rxv663you are not able to assing (audio 1) or (audio 2) for component 1 or 2 for that old equipment that does not have optical or coax outputbottom line you need to check the back of this receiver carefuly to be sure it does not limit you installation to just a few options. But I must say that beside this issue it is a good receiver from Bestbuy.com What's great about it:?Ease of setup, connectivity, features, SOUND QUALITY. What's not so great:?No backlit remote. If you buy this receiver you will have to flash the firmware if you want to have audio out through your HDMI. Go figure, Yamaha decided to release a product that can't put out sound through HDMI and to add insult into injury they made it where you can't use an alternate audio source w/ HDMI. I did get leary at 1st after ordering it, before it had actually arrived I read the CNet review & was also a little discouraged by some other reviews on the net of a few complaints of the fact that it weighs less then the previous model (Yamaha 663)and that the wattage has been lowered from 665 to 630. For those reasons I was going to cancel the order and purchase the Yamaha 765 model which is a bit heavier and has 665 watts, 95 per channel. from Amazon.com This receiver is almost identical to the 565 which I just purchased. There are two model numbers for the 565 AV Receiver as disclosed on CNET. One model number is the Yamaha RX-V565BL 630 Watt 7-Channel Home Theater Receiver, the other is the Yamaha HTR-6250BL 630 Watt 7-Channel Home Theater Receiver, which I purchased. At various times, the prices of the two vary on Amazon, so I just went with the cheaper one. from Amazon.com
