The result is continual "thump" and "twip" sounds added every few minutes to the sound track. VERY irritating. I called Onkyo up and they said they know about the problem but don't have a solution. I'm quite disappointed. from Crutchfield.com This receiver is not HDMI compatible with Motorola cable boxes, confirmed in a conversation with Onkyo tech support today. They said "we have been trying to fix this for a long time," yet do not let customers know before they purchase. from Crutchfield.com Purchased this recently due to an older JVC model's lack of HDMI switching. HDMI is passthru, so don't expect it to carry sound to your surround speakers (it does however carry sound to the TV). from Tigerdirect.com you really do get alot of features for the money. upgrade to real speaker wire and other cables and it will sound and look even better! if you're shopping in this price range, then you cannot go wrong with this system. from Crutchfield.com I'm no audiophile but I'm very happy with the sound this system puts out.
