I am by no means an audiophile. I bought this HTIB because of the reviews I read via Circuit City, and the $399 price was an absolute steal for this unit. I opened the individual boxes and connected the speakers and DVD player to the tuner. When Iopened the manual for the component connections and set-up, I have to admit that I was completely overwhelmed. from Circuitcity.com The price seems has pretty good deal. It was on clearance sale in circuitcity for $399. 3 individual package with DVD-557 player, AVR-487 receiver and DENON SYS 57HT speaker system. The speaker features 75Watt on each channels and 100Watt on the subwoofer. from Circuitcity.com I loved how everything was packaged neatly in its own box. I just could have wished while opening each box, that it would have came with good quality cable's (optical, hdmi, etc) instead of the regular rca cables since this was a 5.1 theater system. I have those cables already anyways and after setting it up, playing dvd's and listening to the sound from the receiver to the speakers is so nice. These small speakers punch out soft, rich clear sounds plus using the 8' subwoofer completes the system. from Circuitcity.com I demand tight bass, understandable vocals and clear highs. I also want control to adjust Bass, Treble, and ouput levels. I like watching movies and listening to concert dvds. I looked at Yamaha YHT-380 first then saw Sony DAV-IS10 on craiglist for cheaper price. I was going toward Sony until tech savvy coworker suggested Denon system.
