My sole complaint is that the rear speakers do not work. When the rear speakers would not pair, we got on the phone with Sony support. from Amazon.com I've had the Sony BDVIS1000 for a few weeks now-- Before purchasing I read the reviews on this system and was a bit hesitant about purchasing based on the S-air connectivity problems, but really wanted the small footprint & sound from this extra small HTIB system. I'm thrilled I did, because I couldn't be more pleased with the look, functionality and sound produced by such a small system. from Amazon.com I read the review on this product and many seem to share a common theme regarding a problematic S-Air device and unable to keep the devices paired. My concerns were eased reeading some of the feedback about pairing procedures. Also problems seemed to be isolated so I thought chances were slim it could happen to me as the devices are close together. After speding a hour on set-up (very simple), I fired up the unit and low and behold no sounds from rear speakers. from Amazon.com I found this unit on sale for considerably less than the list price I saw 6 months ago, and it seemed ideal for my needs. I was looking for a system that had a nice satellite-cube 5.1 audio, a BD player, HTIB, and wireless rear speakers. Plus, I have a Sony flat panel and I've always been a big fan of Sony. I brought the unit home and started to unpack. from Amazon.com Once I connected an HDMI cable and set the resolution to 1080p, the rear speakers (through the S-air device) stopped working. If I lower the HDMI resolution to 1080i or lower, the S-air immediately reconnects. The issue seems to be with the high resolution 1080p signal (over HDMI cable) conflicting with the S-air. My rear speakers are no more than 20 feet away from the main unit. from Amazon.com My biggest ignorance was that I did not know Blu-ray players can play DVD's too. On researching, I found that in fact they not only play DVDs, they even upscale them to 1080p using HDMI cables. This was a no-brainer then after my earlier Sony DVD Dream System HTIB died (after 7 strong years I must add !!) So they expectations were high. Researched a lot online for Sony systems. from Amazon.com Despite the comments from many other users regarding the inability to use the rear speakers, I figured I'd give this product a chance. Unfortunately, I ran into the same problem and after 3 hours trying to pair the rear speakers decided to call Sony. They are sending me the signal booster cable. from Amazon.com I had an '02 Pioneer home theater that gave me great "surround sound", Sony's $700+ system is, so far, much inferior! Maybe I'm technically stupid? from Amazon.com I have been buying Sony products for 40 years and this is my first disappointment, although it may turn out OK. I bought this system because the DVD player seemed to rate very highly (one glitch with Warner Brothers DVDs noted in another review but that is all), when compared to other models and brands, including less expensive ones from Sony, and the extra cost for the speakers seemed to make sense. from Amazon.com Very full sound for such tiny speakers, with just a touch of directionality from the mid-range in the subwoofer. Most important, use high quality HDMI cable (Version 1.3b Cat 2), if not, the interference will prevent the wireless from acquiring - also helps to wrap the HDMI and calibration mike connector in tinfoil. The Bravia Sync is a little finicky - you'll need to play around a bit to get the Sony TV and BDV to react to the remotes the way you want. Won't process 5.1 broadcast sound, though I'm putting free cable to the TV and optical from the TV to the BDV. from Amazon.com
