I already knew at this point I had to return it since I have several things I needed to plug in and simply using component connections wouldn't work for me, but I thought I'd test out the sound anyway. I've got a fairly large living room that extends out to the kitchen and I found out that the subwoofer was not strong enough to fill the room. This would probably be a good system for a small bedroom or a game room, but I would not recommend it if you have a large living room and are looking for that ultimate home theater experience. I decided I'll just spend a little more money and get a unit that has an HDMI repeater rather than having to deal with component and optical cables. from Amazon.com This was my first surround sound purchase so the review is based on the basics. So far I've had this system for a couple of months and have no real complaints. Other Thoughts: This is the best deal going, I was going to wait for black friday to get a system but the price with free shipping is too good. from Newegg.com Took me awhile to activate the pro logic surround sound for my older games, they only played in PCM until I figured out you had to hit the amp button then sur. decode on remote to enable it. All of my ps3 games and Xbox 360 games sound great(Halo 3 sounds like a war zone!) You can't go wrong with this system for the money. from Newegg.com Cons: It has digital audio switching and you can only get a digital audio connection by buying a optical cable to hook up from the TV to the receiver as only the video is able to use the HDMI cables. Other receivers in this price range are the same way; I don't know why it is done this way and is annoying. The sound is better with an ONKYO system. I should've paid $50 more and got ONKYO as it gives more quality sound. from Newegg.com Cons: bass is so so,if you like rap i dont think the bass is for you. Now rock on the other hand is nice clean bass. The optical and/or coax cables from your components to the receiver are necessary for digital audio using the receiver - certainly not a problem at all at this price.) Other Thoughts: Psssst - buy the right cables and you won't have any problem - you will love this system!
