I purchased this rtd 258 in june of 07..the disc repeatedly will not work, and jams closed to get it to work involved repeatedly unplugging the unit. this was not a one time occurance. from Target.com I called tech support and the gave me a procedure to reset it, and it worked long enough for me to remove my disk. then it stop working again. I'll never buy a RCA system again. from Target.com I just exchanged RTD207 [did not have a place for headphones] for this RTD258. The set up initially was relatively easy because of my prior experience. from Target.com This system sucks. Period. I bought it because it was 1000 watts with a 5 disc changer. I would not have purchased another RCA product as the prior two were returned for being defective. from Amazon.com The system has scratched more DVDs than I can remember. If you feel like having a $200 dust collector that produces poor sound and destroys your stuff, then this is for you. Cons: No HDMI included. No digital inputs for audio from external sources like HD cable box. from Newegg.com Finally, after turning the power on and off several times it recognized the disk. Cleaning the lens didn't seem to help. I e-mailed RCA customer support and received a reply to call customer support to discuss the problem. I called the toll free number and was connected to a customer support center in Manila. from Amazon.com There was hardware missing and the system was buggy. Sometimes the sound modes would act differently than described and the speakers had a crackling effect in Dolby mode. I contacted RCA for the missing parts and they advised they could not and that I would have to send the entire system back to them on my own dime. At that point I threw in the tolwel and returned it. from Amazon.com
