It does the best job I think with classical and jazz recordings, but it's more than adequate for popular material, particularly vocals where again it is exceptionally revealing of the details of the human voice. It's not an exceptionally efficient speaker either so you probably need at least something with 100 W per channel to get decent "realistic" sound levels. KEF has definitely been working on their proprietary Uni-Q driver technology for almost 20 years now, and I do think, if the recent reviews of their new reference series (universal raves) are any indication, they finally have got it right. The XQ series leans heavily on the Reference Series technology, and although I never particularly liked the sound of most of the earlier iterations of the Uni-Q driver implementations, to their credit, they have continued to refine the design, and, they finally have done away with the previous reliance on a super tweeter to cover the very high frequencies that the previous versions of the Uni-Q. from Amazon.com It does the best job I think with classical and jazz recordings, but it's more than adequate for popular material, particularly vocals where again it is exceptionally revealing of the details of the human voice.
