Whether you are hosting a party for the big game, relaxing on a Saturday night or saving money on movie tickets, a home theater system makes your living room the place to be. The cornerstone of a good home theater is a good surround sound speaker system, and there are many brands to choose from in every price range.
When investing in a surround sound system for your home theater, the quality of the system will largely depend on the bass level and number of speakers. A minimal set up could include two speakers, mounted anywhere from next to the screen to on the ceiling, and a subwoofer. The subwoofer delivers large, powerful sound that lets you feel the roar of the crowd and every nuance of the soundtrack. For a truly enhanced experience add some satellite speakers around the room. The power of a speaker is measured in watts, so the higher the watts output, the louder your speakers will get.. A 5.1 surround system might include 2 front speakers, 5 satellite speakers that can be positioned around the room or in the ceiling, and a 1 subwoofer. Most surround sound systems will come with guidelines for the best speaker placement for optimal sound.
