we also had a booster seat with a tray that attaches to a regular chair for around $25 to accomodate the time when we needed the tray -- like self feedings in the middle of the kitchen or outside.
i can't talk about how often i have really needed to set my son in a high chair in the kitchen while i get dinner ready or straightn up.
i don't know how this chair has passed so many safety standards.
what's worse is the safety strap that's built into the seat back.
she can get into and out of it herself, can use it in the kitchen to see the countertop better, can put stickers on it if she wants, and, bonus for us, it tucks in very nicely at the table so it fits
however, when one of the chassis part actually torn apart, it became a serious issue of safety.
it looks unsafe because it is!!!!!!!!!!
the safety bar for the seat doesn't open, and it's positioned too close to the seat, so getting the child in and out is difficult.
also, giggle told me i could remove it because it's not required for safety b/c it has a 5 point safety harness.
that allows for the harness to be safely buckled.
and i say furniture, because it truly is that versus a temporary piece of plastic taking up room in your kitchen!
when she first started sitting up, we had her in a bumbo seat, then when she started sitting up to eat we moved her to a high chair that straps onto the seat of one of our kitchen chairs.
the tripp-trapp is also lightweight enough that i can easily take her from the dining room into the kitchen where she can watch me while i work.
please be aware before purchasing this high chair, that there are safer (and less-expensive) options out there.
* it has no tray for eating like a high chair -- at our house we also had a booster seat with a tray that attaches to a regular chair for around $25 to accomodate the time when we needed the tray --
