Let me tell you!!! After doing a bit of research and finally reading the wonderful reviews on the Holmes Ultra-Quiet Ceramic Heater, I headed straight to my local Target to pick one or two up, when I got there I found that they had a Holmes Twin Ceramic Heater and lo and behold... BUY ONE GET ONE FREE!!! from Target.com Living in San Francisco, I'm almost always cold. Instead of blasting the furnace and heating the entire house, I needed a little space heater to warm my toes. from Target.com It is durable, quiet, and does a great job heating the room. I would buy it again. Thank you Target for your great products. from Target.com The unit is whisper quiet. There is a thermostat on the top so the unit turns on and off at particular temperatures. It is made by Holmes. There is a hi-tech unit with the same features as this one for slightly higher cost, for comtemporary homes, but it is constantly out of stock. from Target.com It works! This heater is as small as my other Lasko ceramic heaters but are twice more efficient. It takes awhile to warm up the space to 70 degrees, but it eventually will, which our bigger, louder and taller Holmes Quartz heater can never do. The hot air coming from this heater (while on low setting) is so hot that you will have to keep a distance from it to feel comfortable. from Target.com I've had this unit for 2 years and it is the best little heater I've ever owned. It's very, very quiet, and on low setting it heats up the room very quickly. All in all, I'm sold on Holmes products. I've had a Holmes window fan that, at over 10 years old, has outlasted and outperformed 3 others from different makers (Conair and Windemere). from Amazon.com We are really paying the price for our cheap Chinese imports now. Holmes products used to be halfway decent, but this is a piece of junk. It seemed okay at first but in just over a week it began to cut off for no reason (set for 80 degrees, shut off when the room was at 57 degrees, so it wasn't the thermostat). from Amazon.com On low setting I can't hear it at all, even when it was sitting right next to me! On high setting the fan is audible, but not distractingly so. An interesting feature is what Holmes calls "Viziheat". Since there are no glowing coils inside this unit, it might be hard to tell if the grill might be hot. from Amazon.com Does it matter whether it takes a while to produce heat, or is it needed right away? How long is the manufacturer willing to warranty the product? The Holmes HCH4954 is a fan-forced mini-tower ceramic heater which will heat nearby objects and small rooms relatively quickly, As advertised, it is very quiet. This is the primary reason I bought it, as most other designs would have sufficed. from Amazon.com I'm either going to be hot or cold. If I set the unit to 70, after reaching 75 degrees it still runs----totally unacceptable. If Holmes improves the thermostat they would have a decent little heater here.
