We've had two Optimus heaters for a couple of weeks. They put out a lot of heat for their size which is just what we were looking for, and the price was right. from Amazon.com This is a great little heater. Compact and quiet, but gives off a lot of heat. I have 2 larger Optimus heaters, but I wanted 2 smaller ones. I like the anti-tip switch feature. from Amazon.com The Optimus H-5210 is noiseless and produces a gentle radiant heat. The tubes glow dull red, similar to exposed nichrome wire heaters, but should be much safer, and longer lasting due to being enclosed. from Amazon.com I live in a triple wide mobile home that unlike my house ( a rental ) the mobile home has single pane windows and not the thickest insulation. The heating costs are almost triple that of my home. However, I found that if I warmed up the mobile home to a comfortable temperature and was willing to close myself off in a room, I could easily turn the house heater off and use the Optimus infrared heater to keep any bedroom warm. Aiming at you from about 5 feet away is best if you are feeling cold, but it will slowly heat my 14 X 22 den up a degree or two over several hours. from Amazon.com Don't confuse these with those bright heaters that have bright, blinding yellow bulbs in them that burn out after 1 season or melt the heater's switches. These are the more reliable radiant heaters that glow a dim red-orange, & will last a few years. After being very happy with the Optimus radiant 9 inch dish (parabolic) heaters, I decided to try a couple of these & was not disappointed. They have a 400 & 800 watt setting. from Amazon.com This heater is not for a large room. 8X10 is probably the most to expect. I have another heater that I used, but the noise from the fan got to me, hence I bought the Optimus.
