Our heater went out last winter at the worst possible time. We ran to different stores hunting down heaters but, all had the fire starter space heaters(if knocked over)We got to sears and bought three heaters,the holmes BH3950,Lasco ceramic oscilating tower,Holmes HQH307 Quartz radiant tower, All three were put to a critical test in an old drafty mobile home at -6 degrees to 28 degrees for two weeks They ended up in their best spot. The Lasco tower(bathroom)Holmes quartz tower(livingroom noisy and on most of the time)The BH3950(the rest of the trailer)and we had to turn it down at times because it got too warm(20degrees on up outside). from Sears.com This heater does a very good job heating up my 800 sq ft apartment. Well I left the heater going all day and pretty much all night 'till I couldn't stand the cold any more and went to Wal-Mart and bought a $10 space heater that heats a heck of alot better than this one. With this Holmes Micathermic heater, It doesn't matter how long it runs it still just heats the air around it for about 2-3 feet max. I didn't want an oil-filled heater because they are, I feel, unecessarily heavy (hard to move, and increased production/transportation/disposal energy used), and they take too long to heat up.
